For years, Johnson has been planning to unleash his anti-hero, Black Adam, on the world. Despite having shared occasional updates on the project for quite some time, here is the first official trailer for the forthcoming superhero film.
Black Adam is based on the same-named DC Comics superhero. While Black Adam is usually Shazam’s foe, the character played by Zachary Levi will not appear in this future picture. Rather of pitting Johnson’s old figure against the Justice Society of America, Black Adam will pit Johnson’s ancient character against the Justice Society of America.
Johnson will play the supervillain during the beginning of the twentieth century, when the Justice Society of America was still the premier superhero group safeguarding Earth, in DC’s live-action debut of Black Adam. So, in addition to Johnson’s Black Adam, Quintessa Swindell will play crimson Tornado, Pierce Brosnan will play Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo will play Atom Smasher, and Aldis Hodge will play Hawkman in the future picture. It will be the first appearance of any of these heroes in a DC film, and we are all quite interested to see what comes of it.
The film is presently undergoing reshoots, although it is scheduled to be released in theatres on October 21.
